Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is the difference beween a Motorhome and a Campervan? A motorhome is a complete structure built on top of a cab chassis truck. The body of the motorhome is made by the RV manufacturer along with all the internal furniture. A campervan uses the existing van body & the RV manufacturer adds a new interior & adds new windows. A campervan is generally narrower & shorter than a motorhome and can be easier to park. Winnebago manufacture both motorhomes & campervans in a variety of different layouts Where are Winnebago Motorhomes & Campervans manufactured? Are they from America? No. Winnebago Industries are an Australian company based in Sydney. They have been building motorhomes & campervans in NSW for over 40 years. Can I drive a motorhome or campervan on a normal car licence? Yes. The Diversion & Escape campervans & the Birdsville, Birdsville Elite, & Esperance motorhomes are all able to be driven on a normal car licence. The Esperance motorhome can be upgraded to 5200kg GVM which means it then requires a LR (Light ridgid) truck licence. The new Menindee model also requires an LR licence. The larger Longreach & Classic motorhomes require an MR licence Is it hard to obtain a LR or MR truck licence? No. It just takes some time spent with a licensed instructor, either at a truck driving school or with an independent instructor in your own vehicle. In most cases, you can obtain your licence in your own motorhome which allows you to get to know the vehicle as well. Do motorhomes & campervans hold their value well? Yes they do. Compared to luxury motor cars or boats, new motorhomes & campervans retain their value very well. When they are looked after & regularly serviced, motorhomes & campervans make a great lifestyle investment. They can also pay for themselves over time compared with staying in hotels or cabins at caravan parks. Is it hard to arrange finance and insurance on new or used motorhomes and campervans? No. It is quite simple. There are a number of ways we can help you finance your motorhome or campervan. We can also arrange competitive insurance rates to cover your new pride & joy. Can I trade in my Motorhome, Campervan, Caravan or Campertrailer on a new Winnebago? Yes. We can trade in all types of buses, motorhomes, campervans, caravans or camper trailers. Is some cases we can offer to supply you a motorhome or campervan, pay out the balance of your mortgage & offer free life tenancy (conditions apply) so you can still stay in your home (when you are not out on the road enjoying the touring lifestyle). If I have sold my property and am waiting for settlement, can I take delivery of my motorhome or campervan now? Yes. All we require is a letter from your conveyancer authorising payment direct to us from your settlement. Once we have a definite future payment date locked in, you are welcome to take delivery of your new Winnebago motorhome or campervan and start enjoying it straight away. Are motorhomes & campervans economical to run & maintain? Yes. Most late model motorhomes & campervans have modern turbo diesel engines & automated transmissions which make them powerful but also quite frugal. For instance, Winnebago Birdsville models average 11L/100km & the hugely popular Winnebago Esperance motorhome manages just 13.5L/100km How long does it take to order a new Winnebago motorhome or campervan? It depends on what model you require and what season it is. We will often have a number of motorhomes and campervans in stock available for immediate delivery. If not, we can change specifications on one of the models we have going into production, and supply within a few months. How does the motorhome and campervan warranty work? Are there any costs to me? Each new Winnebago motorhome or campervan comes with a factory backed warranty. Winnebago have just released a 5 year/1 million km structural warranty on all new Winnebago motorhomes & campervans.
